amtra medic 5 Active ingredient: Amino-5-
nitrothiazol
20 tablets (100 mg each) for the treatment of holein-
head disease and flagellates affecting the intestine
and other internal organs, and for the control of
gram-posiitve bacteria in the aquarium water.
Composition:
Each tablet contains: Amino-5-nitrothiazol 100 mg.
Additional ingredients: Sodium bicarbonate,
Polyethylene glycol.
Applications:
For the treatment of intestinal infections caused by
unicellular parasites (Hexamita, Protoopalina, Spironucleus,
etc). Combats the pathogens associated with
hole-in-head disease. Mildly disinfectant and effective
in reducing numbers of gram-positive aquatic bacteria.
Can be used as a prophylactic in the quarantine aquarium.
Additional suggestions and recommendations
regarding the use of Amino-5-nitrothiazol, the active
ingredient of amtra medic 5, will be found under "fish
diseases" in the aquarium literature and on the Internet.
In particular, amtra medic 5 can be used wherever
metronidazole is prescribed in the fish-disease
literature.
Contra-indications and side-effects:
amtra medic 5 is generally very well tolerated by all
known species of freshwater ornamental fishes. As with
all medications administered by bath immersion, the
effects and actual side-effects are dependent to a large
extent on water parameters. Medications are generally
more effective in soft acid water (pH < 7.0) than in
hard alkaline water (pH > 7.0). For this reason the
dosage cited is applicable to water of medium hardness
with a neutral pH (pH 7.0). Where water parameters
are unknown the prescribed dose should be administered
and the fishes kept under regular observation.
Dosage:
amtra medic 5 is intended for external treatment only,
via bath immersion. Unless otherwise indicated, use
one tablet per 25 litres of aquarium water. Before treatment,
problem-free water quality should be ensured by
making a partial water change. Activated carbon
should not be used in the filter during treatment. CO2
fertilisation should be turned off during treatment. The
water must be well-aerated throughout the entire
treatment period. In particularly severe cases a further
treatment should be administered after about 14 days.
In each case, the medication should remain in the
water for 5 days, after which 1/2 to 2/3 of the water
should be changed. Any residues of medication in the
water can be removed by filtration over activated carbon.
For the reduction of gram-positive aquatic bacteria,
follow the dosage, treatment period, and instructions
given above. amtra medic 5 can be readily used
in combination with many other medications, and this
can be an important aid in the treatment of the mixed
infections that commonly occur in the aquarium. It
should not, however, be used in combination with other
medications containing the same active ingredient.
Special instructions:
Not to be used for animals intended for food use.
Protect from heat and sunlight. Store in a dry place.
Keep all medications out of the reach of children! No
guarantee can be made regarding the effects of
using amtra medic 5 in simultaneous combination
with medications and chemicals produced by other
manufacturers.
Do not use medications after the stated expiry date.
